What the GeoCenter is

GeoCenter Møns Klint is the modern visitor centre sitting directly above the chalk cliffs on the island's east coast. The interactive exhibition tells roughly 70 million years of earth history: from the chalk forming in the primeval sea, through the Ice Age that folded the layers into today's cliffs, to the fossils still found on the beach. Films, models and hands-on stations, plus a 3D cinema, bring the geology to life, making the centre the guided, weatherproof counterpart to the freely accessible cliffs themselves.

Is admission worth it?

An honest take up front: if all you want is the view from Dronningestolen and the walk down the staircase, you don't need a ticket, the cliffs, beach and roughly 496 steps are free and accessible around the clock, with the whole nature area managed by the Danish Nature Agency (Naturstyrelsen). Paying to enter the centre is worthwhile mainly in three cases:

• Travelling with children: the exhibition is designed to be hands-on, with activities such as fossil hunting, tree climbing, a zip line and mountain biking.
• In bad weather: indoors you'll find the exhibition, the 3D cinema, a café and a shop.
• For accessibility: the centre is wheelchair- and pushchair-friendly, unlike the natural staircase.

Prices and tickets

A day ticket costs 155 DKK for adults and 100 DKK for children aged 3 to 11, with free admission under 3. Buying online saves 10 DKK per person (adult 145, child 90 DKK). There's also a weekly ticket (adult 200 / child 145 DKK), group rates from 10 people (135 / 85 DKK) and a season pass (250 / 195 DKK). Guided tours and activities in the high season cost a 25 DKK surcharge on top of admission. If you also want to visit Skovtårnet, the combi ticket is cheaper: 290 DKK instead of 350 DKK for adults, including the 3D cinema at the GeoCenter. All prices are in Danish kroner (DKK), there's no need to convert, as DKK is widely used and accepted throughout Denmark.

Parking

Worth factoring into your budget: the car park costs 45 DKK per visit and is not included in admission, even if you're only heading to the staircase, you still pay for parking. Your number plate is registered on entry, and you pay by QR code or at the machine near the main entrance. The car park fills up quickly in the high season; arriving early in the day means an easier time parking and quieter viewpoints.

Visiting and getting there

The centre includes a café with an indoor seating area and a terrace overlooking the cliffs, a shop and toilets, the latter open year-round from 06:00 to 22:00. The centre is fully wheelchair-accessible, with an accessible toilet and parking space, free loan pushchairs and wheelchairs, and a baby-changing area. By car, take the E47/E55 motorway, exit 41 (coming from Zealand) or exit 42 (coming from Falster). Without a car, bus 678 runs directly to the GeoCenter from March to October, while line 667 from Stege runs year-round.
